Hello, I can confirm that this problem, and workaround, happens with the HUAWEI E160 3G modem too. The version from unstable repository ppp-2.4.5-4 breaks network-manager-pppt dependencies, but at least the 3G connection is stablished. Regards. Andre Felipe

Found a solution in the German Debian forum: http://debianforum.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=122512 network-manager > 0.8.0.999 seem to require ppp 2.4.5 (which is in Debian Sid) to work with the Huawei-Modems. I installed 2.4.5-4 (which has no problematic dependencies) and it worked again.
