Recompiling python-qscintilla2 did the trick - here is the workaround
for other eric users:
You can use apt-build to do the full rebuild automatically:
sudo apt-build install python-qscintilla2
Otherwise here's the manual rebuilding:
Get the sources from the Debian repos:
apt-get

You are right, now it segfaults on my computer as well. But if you either
recompile python-qscintilla2 or install the qscintilla packages from here
http://gudjon.org/debian/qscintilla/
then eric will work.
Hope it solves the problem.

Sorry, my mistake. Please install python-qscintilla2 version 2.4.3 and your
problem will be fixed. The problem is fixed in eric-4.4.3-2 which I hope will
be uploaded soon.
