After an upgrade of
libvte-common (1:0.24.0-2)
libvte9 (1:0.24.0-2)
python-vte (1:0.24.0-2)
the problem seems solved: splitting window is again possible and
transparence works as usual.

Same problem here, in addition I noticed that I cannot get a non
transparent background in terminator anymore. After the upgrade to
0.14-1 my background was transparent even though I had specified
background_color = solid explicitly in the config file. Also the
background_darkness option does not h
Can you please provide the traceback error you are getting?
