If you are not in the mood of restarting the whole gnome session, you can
easily identify the process PID and sent it
the HUP signal via the kill command. Thus the panel is restarted and Alt+F2 is
working normally as expected.
For example:
ps aux |
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.28.0-3
Severity: important
The run dialog no longer works.
$ gconftool-2 -g /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/panel_run_dialog
F2
After pressing Alt+F2 the following message appears in a window titled "Error"
(see screenshot attached):
