I have the same bug, but only if I set index_tree date instead of file
in sarg.conf.
Maybe can help to discover location of the bug.

in my case, the patch did not solve the issue. I tracked this down
to the use of a UTF8 locale, thus for instance, in spanish, the date:
mié 7 abr
has 4 characters before the space instead of the 3 expected by sarg.
probably this is not a simple patch.
