I can't reproduce that in sid, i find odd that you can't use it, maybe
is an issue of one of the dependencies of the dependencies of
terminator, that's the only thing that can be breaking it. Have you
already determined which one of them is that one you are missing? gtk,
gobject or pango?

Can you please try with terminator 0.10-1 [1] to confirm if it's already
fixed and ask for a nomination or to fix it please.
