I'm seeing this same bug, I believe. I've tried running
# /etc/acpi/sleepbtn.sh
# /etc/acpi/sleep.sh
# /usr/share/acpi-support/suspendorhibernate suspend
and all three have no effect. By adding a call to the syslogger to
suspendorhibernate, I was able to confirm that Fn-F4 on my Thinkpad
T23 *is*
