I've been experiencing the same problem (gdm receiving SIGABRT on
session exit), and the workaround (removing the Xwilling file from
/etc/gdm) fixed this.
I haven't tried the patch provided. If it works, I think it would be
a good idea to include this in proposed-updates for lenny.
