Hmm, but doesn't that mean that if
calling texi2dvi /path/with~tilde/in/the/path.texi breaks
I installed the patch below (modulo documentation, etc.) to support tildes.

Yes, I thought about that, too, but it is not really a good idea in
general, because baz.texi might

I can imagine ways, like running tex differently:

It will take some time to figure out if it can really work.

Hi Karl, hi all,
there is another problem with ~ in file names. It seems that calling
texi2dvi /path/with~tilde/in/the/path.texi
breaks because of \catcode. texi2dvi tells tex to load that file name as
is, which breaks of course due to ~ being active.
Can one of you imagine any way to fix
