It seems like you have some stale files somewhere since I can't reproduce
it. As a last resort can you try running defoma-reconfigure?
Note: This will remove pretty much everything in /var/lib/defoma, so if
you put something custom there you may want to back it up.

Even though they used lots of CPU, those three commands didn't help.
Purge cleaned them up, but then the update put them right back.
$ pwd
