Hello,
Do you remember from where you got the installation DVD? Do you still
have it? Can you send me the docbook-xml binary package (.deb) from this
DVD?
Regards, Daniel

I'm also on a freshly-installed etch upgrading to lenny on i686 and
running the both commands:
update-xmlcatalog --del --type public --id '-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML
V4.1//EN' --package docbook-xml
update-xmlcatalog --del --type public --id '-//OASIS//DTD XML Exchange
Table Model 19990315//EN' --pa
I experienced the same thing going from a freshly-installed etch to
lenny on ppc, so it's not limited to amd64.
Running:
update-xmlcatalog --del --type public --id '-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML
V4.1//EN' --package docbook-xml
update-xmlcatalog --del --type public --id '-//OASIS//DTD XML Exchange Tab
I can confirm that this is not amd64 specific. I am running 32-bit on a
pentium-4 2.4GHz. It is also not specific to the Etch install CDs, because

upgrade to Sid.
Unfortunetely I suffered a hard drive crash yesterday so

Same error upgrading from Etch to Lenny on i686 (Core2 Duo). Worked around the
issue by running the following two commands.
update-xmlcatalog --del --type public --id '-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.1//EN'
--package docbook-xml
update-xmlcatalog --del --type public --id '-//OASIS//DTD XML Exchange
Got the same bug on my Core2 Duo laptop. 100% reproduceable.
To reproduce
- install Debian from installation DVD
- roll on the latest updates for default etch packages
- change etch to lenny in lst file
- update, dist-upgrade
