Package: openoffice.org Version: 1:2.4.0-5 Severity: important Found the problem thanks to the hints in the bug reports above. The problem is in the file ~/.openoffice2/user/config/javasettings_Linux_x86.xml. So you don't need to kill the whole folder. Just taken an editor and fix the line:
