Good news:
In fact, applying the patch in:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471889
solves the problem for me.
I have manually edited the
file /usr/lib/bonobo/servers/GNOME_DriveMountApplet.server.
(Note I'm using gnome-applets-data 2.20.1-3)

After further investigation, it seems this problem has to do with source
package libbonobo.
In fact, I believe this is the same or similar bug as in:

I also experience this problem. I can always reproduce it this way:
1. Reboot or power on computer and start Debian.
2. Log into gnome session for the first time. Drive mount applets works
ok.
3. Logout.
4. Log into gnome session again. Drive mount applet does not show, and

know the exact moment, but when X.org is killed, sometimes on logout and
login again, X.org restart and some other unidentified moments the applet
