/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'enter-your-good-new-password-here'
with
UPDATE user SET password=PASSWORD('enter-your-good-new-password-here') WHERE
user='root';
in mysql-server-5.0.README.Debian. That's the way which is used in the
