I downgraded to version 5.4.11-5 and everything is working fine.

The problem reappeared after I rebooted. Not only are these errors
being logged into the system logs, they are occurring on the console.
Please reopen this bug.

The problem seems to have been fixed with the 1.4.1-21 version of
the klogd package.
