On my font problems 6 months birthday :) I managed to solve it. The trick
was adding a symbolic link in
/etc/fonts/conf.d/
70-no-bitmaps.conf -> ../conf.avail/70-no-bitmaps.conf
and running
dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig
Since it took me 6 months t
