Probably the right thing is to leave the readme as is and place the
file in /etc/X11/fonts/misc/xfonts-terminus.alias instead.
At least I have many /etc/X11/fonts/*/*.alias but only terminus uses
/etc/X11/fonts/*/*/*.alias. Running update-fonts-alias X11R7 or
X11R7/misc complains, the man pag

For convenience aliases are also provided. Look at the file
