Thanks Doug (bcc'd) - adding the bug # to the recipients list as an fyi.
Found a USB DVD writer. I have verified that this bug does exist in
Debian and is resolved by the provided patch.
Of course, once it got passed this issue it still didn't work - but
who knows, could be the drive, the media, or some combination (I've
never used this drive before).
