Please check whether the problem does or does not occur with the debian
package x11vnc-0.8.2-1 or, even better, the most recent build:
http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/x11vnc-0.8.4.tar.gz
There is probably no need to install either one on your test system;
you can just run them in place.
