I had the same problem and it is right, it did almost nothing because
the pgpring output is not the input preprocess_keys is waiting for.
A simple patch is attached that should work well on a current and correct
pgpring output as input.

$ pgpring -k ~/.gnupg/pubring.gpg | tail -25
