Could you please check if the included gecode.m4 works correctly for you?
No :-(
But it looks like it is for newer version.
There are many changes between gecode.m4 in gecode 1.1.0-2 and this file.
For gecode 1.1.0 should be applied only one of them
(and regenerated configure).

I reported this to upstream's bugzilla and I think you could better
answer their question:
Does Debian GNU/kFreeBSD behave like BSD or Linux when it comes to
dynamic linking? We currently do not officially support building on
BSD at all, only Darwin/Mac OS X. Could you please try again with the
Package: gecode

Hi,
the current version fails to build on GNU/kFreeBSD.
The problem is AC_GECODE_GET_OS in gecode.m4.
It recognizes only three architectures. Moreover, the result of test
is with gcc completely unused.
Please could you apply patch
