Isn't there supposed to be a dual-level config now? Possibly with
gdm.conf.in and gdm.conf-custom or something like that. I don't think
this is getting installed correctly when you upgrade...

The /etc/gdm/gdm.conf installed by the 2.13.0.10-2 package does not
contain commented-out defaults and explanations, making migrating
changed settings with emacs emerge hard.
Running gdmsetup will put them back in.
It would be easier if gdm.conf
