Just to confirm this bug.
It is not a real tab, but it behaves as if when closing last tab.
It wasn't present in mozilla-tabextensions_2.1.2006012001-1_i386.deb
(I actually downgraded to that version).

Hi,
I have the same problem: after upgrading to the newest tabextensions I
can see an extra tab, which cannot be closed. Additionally the "open new tab"
button got lost from the tab panel.
Downgrading the package to 2.1.2006012001-1 fixes the problem.
