I update my kernel from version 2.6.14 to version 2.6.15-6 (unstable
repository) and the kde mount icon (lshal --monitor) work again.
So, I think the problem was not in KDE but in somewhere else.

The same happens to me, but when I downgrade
udev to version 0.71 and hal to version 0.5.5,
the media mount works again.
The problem seems that kde mounter don't change
the hal proprieties.
Try to run lshal --monitor and you will see that
propriety is_mounted doesn't change
