It is a feature. lftp considers `Connection refused' a temporary error and retries the operation. To avoid it, use `set net:max-retries 1'. Besides, lftp connects (and re-connects) to the server only when needed, in your case when you want a directory listing. That's a feature too. -- To UNSUB
