python-wxgtk2.4 2.4.4.1.1
and removed the following:
libwxgtk2.4
reassign 328171 libwxgtk2.4-python
severity 328171 serious

could you please check that you have:
1) The python-wxversion package installed.
2) That /usr/sbin/update-alternatives --display wx.pth
shows you are using 2.6 by default.
If some of the examples need 2.6 explicitly,

I have both python-wxgtk2.6 and libwxgtk2.4 2.4.3.1 installed. Under this
environment, the demo.py included with wx2.6-examples does not start:
