bug "Please stop distributing xedit binaries until this data loss bug
in xedit is fixed", and I described both the dataloss-on-quit problem

The error described by M.Dietrich in August 2005 is still
present in September 2006 in etch (testing).
Please raise the severity of the error as suggested by
H.Robak in Nov 2005, for exactly the reason he gave.
Using xedit is risky at the moment.

xedit is the one baseline text editor that is always included with X.
You can usually depend on it being there. I use it for CVS commit
comments, and other quick stuff. When I have to remember clicking
twice, I lose data!
This is not a "normal" severity bug. Xedit is broken!
