Is there anything holding up the fixing of this bug? I'm sure that you
have figured out that the patch for this bug is as below. I am faced
with a number of packages that don't clean up the PID file (because they
don't have one and I have to make it), so the integration of this patch
would be app

According to LSB 3.0, killproc should remove the pidfile of the terminated
process
(if any). It currently fails to do that. See also #298585.
