everything clear. However, I have seen (mainly on newsgroups) mainly
this quotation:

the citation mark is "> " and not ">", see the extra space needed to met the
required tag.
kmail do exactly the same behavior so your expected output is wrong.
If you use add/remove feature, it uses right tag, and do what is expected.
