It seems that the sources need compatibility patches[1][2][3], but it
would probably be better to make a new upstream release.

I have recently updated lucene9. Current FTBFS is caused by missing
lucene9 classes. Thus it seems that lucene9 API has changed breaking
backwards compatibility.
