So long as we ship CVS in general and there are earnest CVS deployments
in the wild (for better or for worse), I don't see a compelling reason
for CVS being a carte blanche de mal.

this bug came up today as a candidate for the bug of the day. The
homepage was somehow moved [1] but when reading the bug report I really
wonder whether we should rather remove this package from Debian. Users
might be able to use the old package from

Hi,
Debian has a cvsweb package.
Unfortunately in 2014 FreeBSD stopped maintaining cvsweb[1] and warned
that "There may be unpatched security issues with [cvsweb]".
Debian probably still assume that it's maintained by FreeBSD as the
package points to the cvs
