After wasting a few hours trying to figure out what was wrong an a long
discussion on #debian-devel I had to apply this patch:

This makes impossibile to use the library just for queries to a specific
server.
Build daemons tend to not have a resolv.conf and this makes impossibile
using the class for unit tests.
