What is the idea behind these emails?
The drive reports bad sectors pending for reallocation (HDD) or retirement
(SSD).
What is the recommended way to turn them off?
Run a long self-test (smartctl -t long ...). Also check Device Statistics and
Pending Defects log (smartctl -l devstat -l pe
I too fail to see the point of these emails. I've gotten 562 of these
emails so far since the start of 2022, without any updated numbers since
the initial email.

Every day I get 2 EMails from smartmontools saying
Device: /dev/sda [SAT], 36 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors
and
Device: /dev/sda [SAT], 36 Offline uncorrectable sectors
The 36 is constant for the last year (at least). AFAIK this is
