The important thing is to tell "complete" the function it has to use
(-F _lyx) when it receives the command "lyx"

example in evince, the completion command is given.
Test. Launch an xterm running bash.
complete -p |grep lyx
returns nothing
lyx
gives list corresponding to 'ls *lyx'

Strange "have()" should have been defined in
/usr/share/bash-completion/bash_completion
which should be called via /etc/bash_completio

The bash-complete script does not work. It calls "have lyx" but have is not a
program. Commenting out the line in /usr/share/lyx/scripts/bash-completion
it can be sourced, but bash-completion dos not load it "on demand
