I went ahead and built the package from the deb-src pacakge with the
debugging symbols (as there no package providing them) included to try
and see if I could generate a useful backtrace. Strangely enough, I
could not reproduce the error. However, the original package exhibited
this bug.

GDM's GdmXserverTimeout is set to 10 seconds by default in
/usr/share/gdm/defaults.conf. This leads to the following behavior on
my machine. If I log out of Gnome or restart GDM manually from the
command line by invoking '/etc/init.d/gdm restart' Xor
I can confirm this on my system with Debian Squeeze and the
2.6.30-2-amd64 kernel. Is there a work around, or are we just waiting
for the drivers in Sid to stabilize before they can be pushed down to
Squeeze?
