Thanks for the reply. There is a bug open in the LSB bugzilla to drop
the pax requirement (http://bugs.linuxbase.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2785),
and I've spent some time looking at the tests to see where they fall
down using tar/cpio, and I've found that for the most part they can be
readily adapted.

Seeing this fail consistently in LSB testing. The version of pax shipped with
Debian and Ubuntu does not seem to populate the devmajor/devminor fields
according to the ustar format.

I thought that this was interfering with my ability to use
monkeysphere-authentication update-users. My problems there were,
however pilot errors. This bugs seesm to be limited just to the
keys-for-user sub-command, so I'm lowering severity to minor.

We've been seeing issues with GTK testing under lsb-test-desktop for a
while
now, but have been waving the failures as it was felt it was too late in
distribution cycles to a
nfigure debconf" again to return your debconf priority to
medium or high.

null not being an acceptable value (for what, it didn't say).
I added "set -x" to the .postinst sctript, below is stderr from that
