In order to clarify the new goal of this bug I am making a note to help
the maintainer of this package.
The chipset MCP89 manufactured by Apple in their 2010s laptops and
designed by nvidia was not properly recognized by the current squeeze

...it seems they have been applied.

It seems we have to reopen this bug. I downloaded today's squeeze
netinstall with the last update of kernel 2.6.32-26, burned and boot
it through rEFIt.
The ata detection fails to find /dev/cdrom as previously:
ata1: COMRESET fail
