If a user wants to compile and install an application to /usr/local, the
menu entries and icons are working fine, but if the application ships a
kde mime type, the mime type is not found by KDE unless we set KDEDIRS to
$KDEDIRS:/usr

Using the python xapian bindings with libapache2-mod-python (3.3.1-2)
makes apache freeze due to threading issues.
