The problem was that a pending job was not done.
The printer was deactivated so cups couldn't finish this job.
So cups seems to try printing this job and blocks the shutdown process
till the cups process get killed.

My father uses a Squeeze for i386.
We got the same problem with cupsd.
But before he kills all processes it seems that the CPU usage is at 100%
till he kills all processes with SIGTERM.
