I have seen the same problem on a system with nvidia graphic card
GeForce2 MX/MX 400 when running with the proprietary nvidia driver.
After changing the driver from "nvidia" to the open-source driver "nv"
in the X server configuration file, the problem disappeared.

xvncviewer does not use MITSHM extension on system that support it.
The problem is that the option -DMITSHM is missing during compilation
of the vncviewer/ directory. The patch solves it.
