Bug#512951: This bug breaks the whole system

Just to emphasise, this bug prevents a number of init scripts from working, so on startup the system is in a broken state (no networking, touchpad not working...). I think this is serious enough to justify a "critical" severity. Purging splashy does fix the problem for me, though. -- To UNSUBS
