Hi George,
i can't find any messages or news that KDE4 is in production in Debian
Testing now?
There are only Test-versions of KDE4 like
http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/kde4livecd.html
So it is Testing and not Unstable, and therefore i can't see a reason
why a productional KDE3
is going to be d
The problem is that the packages are now screwed to KDE 4.2.2.
So there is a Mixup from KDE 3 and KDE 4!
It is not surprising that this is not working.
As solution i downloaded manually the correct packages from stable and
installed them manually:
dpkg -i kttsd
dpkg -i kttsd-contrib-plugins_3.5
Needed components are missing, specially kcmkttsd.
http://accessibility.kde.org/developer/kttsd/
KTTSD
The KDE Text-to-Speech Deamon, a non-gui application that runs in
the background, providing TTS support to KDE applications.
Applications initiate TTS by making DCOP calls to kttsd.
I opened now a bug for the nepomuk problem.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=534421
The last crash seems to point to this "service".

Hi,
the tip with the xsession-errors was the right one.
I opened an KDE-session and a XFCE session parallel.
The XFCE has not been closed up to now.
But the KDE session was killed several times.
I attached the corresponding logfile.
Here is the relevant part:

It is xfce related because the problem directly appears after installing
xfce4.
The installation process has modified basic configuration files.
For instance the theme of the login-screen has
