Just a pointer, I had this problem on the following CPU with binutils 2.44-1:
vendor_id
I rebuilt luametatex statically linking libmimalloc2.0 from testing
(2.1.7+ds-1+b1) and mtxrun --generate ran fine.
I also built luametatex dynamically linking against libmimalloc2.0 from testing
(2.1.7+ds-1+b1) and mtxrun --generate also ran fine.

(one that is also included "upstream").
