The Configuration file offers a 'sendmail' more or a 'courier' mode for
SMTP submission. However the current version of Courier in Debian
doesn't need the special 'courier' mode anymore as it behaves correctly.

in a non-standard port (MSA usually lives on 587).
This can be easily achieved by adding the following as line 194 to
conf/conf.php:

This was submitted nearly a year ago - and I have received *no* reply and
the change hasn't been implemented.
