I had the same or a very similar problem. After loading LennyBeta2 netinst, I found that Samba shares would not mount on the machine though they would mount on a machine which had been loaded from LennyBeta1 netinst and updated. I reinstalled linux-image-2.6.24-1-i686 2.6.24-7 and linux-image
