I'm encountering this exact problem. Using strace to compare the listed
successful run with my problematic run, I see that mkdir is never called:

I will fix the crash issue for OOo 3.0 final.
Besides the already mentioned validation errors, the biggest problem
causing the crash is that there are images referenced that are not inside
the storage. So whoever implement the export filter should have a look
at this.
