I found I still had the irqpoll kernel option left over from and older
motherboard that needed it. After removing this, the hangs went away.
strace of grub-mkdevicemap shows it hanging after attempting to access
/dev/hdc, my cdrom drive. So the problem may be the driver, but I'd
prefer to retain the usage of this device.

Got the same error when upgrading to hylafax-client 2:6.0.3-5.1.
I can confirm that if I run "umount /var/spool/hylafax/etc" before
upgrading the upgrade works.
/var/spool/hylafax/etc and /etc/hylafax are indeed on the same partition.

I just installed hylafax and the init.d scripts has an error when run. It
appears to start up the daemons, but the error is rather confusing.

I have two network devices on my machine, eth0 and eth1. When I start
up the netspeed applet the "Network device" dropdown is greyed out with
eth1 selected. Selecting eth0 is not an option, when it should be.
