I've got the same problem and get only a black screen, if I start the
xserver. The error in the log is similar.
Unfortunately I hadn't kept the old packages, so I couldn't recover
them. All attempts to install older packages from lenny didn't work. I
have no xserver since more than 10 days and I'm

since last update I have icons in my main menu, although the checkbox in
System>Preferences>Appearance>Interface>Show icons in menu
is disabled.

I used LUKS to encrypt my hard drive. With kernel 2.6.18-6-486 the hard
drive is detected and I am asked for the LUKS paraphrase.
With a higher kernel version, especially 2.6.25-2-486, I get an error
message, that no root partiti
00:00". The time on my Debian testing
box is correct, but it appears some variable in this routine was never
set or reset. Actual time is ignored.
