I changed my username from none to noscar and screen works indeed perfectly
well. I can therefore confirm that incompatibility with the username none.
I'm also surprised that choosing such a username would introduce similar
malfunctionings.

This is the output (stderr for strace) I received from running screen with
strace and gdb. I will leave strace logs as an attachment, hoping that is
possible.
This is, instead, what I get when running screen with gdb (I do not have
debugging symbols for screen):
