I think that this might be the same problem reported in #592324.
I am not sure, because 592324 is a problem during linking, and
what I reported is a run-time problem. However, in the meantime
I moved to a new computer, and now I run into 592324 as well.
I can get the missing symbols MPI
As it turns out, this is a duplicate of 564941. A workaround for the latter
has been described in the README.Debian of kdebase-workspace 4:4.4.5-6.
Hence I'll mark this bug as 'done'.

Now that xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.13.0-2 appeared in unstable
I tried that package. As was to be expected, together with
the squeeze kernel there is still no functioning display.
On the other hand, with the 2.6.36-rc6 kernel the display and
X appeared to be working property. This seemed like

squeeze kernel, and both options are set there. Still I don't have a

Forget what I said about the default behavior having changed.
This machine is a can full of Heisenbugs! After the fifth reboot,
